Collaboration & Team Management in Scientific Laboratories
Enable your team, external partners, and contractors to communicate and collaborate more efficiently from anywhere, at any time.
Enable your team, external partners, and contractors to communicate and collaborate more efficiently from anywhere, at any time.
“SciNote helps us collaborate efficiently by providing a platform for the straight forward communication and relay of information.”
Have full control over who you invite to collaborate. Every individual needs to be granted access. You receive a unique username and password which you have to use for identification every time you try to access your data.
If you have distinct groups of people, you can create teams. You can further divide your team, and approve them access only to certain parts of the ELN. This functionality depends on your SciNote plan.
Set who can see data within individual projects. Only selected people get to work on chosen projects. This helps everyone keep their focus.
External collaborators can be invited to view selected records. Layers of roles and granulation of permissions offer a quick solution for you to invite external collaborators to view the relevant content.
If someone leaves your organization, you can restrict their access to SciNote. User management in SciNote also allows you to remove selected people from projects, and prevent them from signing in your SciNote again.
Save time by using # or @ to tag and notify team members or link the relevant data
Delegate work by assigning tasks. If you want, you can assign members to tasks which will then show in their Overview tab and in their calendar.
Prepare a presentation for your meetings in a few seconds. The report function in SciNote orders data into a neat form that you can present to your colleagues. You can decide to give them a brief overview of what you did or present every detail of the work done.
Reviewing and approval processes made easy. You can sign laboratory records by using the SciNote’s e-signature feature.
Get the most out of teamwork. Ask questions and discuss important ideas right on the spot by adding an @ symbol to your colleague’s name in the comment.
Keep your team in sync when working from different locations. Select the timezone you are in, and SciNote will automatically translate all the timestamps accordingly.
In addition to managing research projects and data within the lab, you can also use SciNote to manage collaboration on research grant proposals – from planning, writing, storing files, to creating the draft. Use SciNote to
Develop grant proposals with partners and collaborators
As SciNote team members have direct access to proposal materials, there is no need for long planning meetings; grant partners and collaborators can exchange ideas and suggestions for the project’s proposal directly within SciNote’s work environment. The entire grant proposal, project plans or work packages, objectives and deliverables, and related comments and suggestions can be structured with SciNote hierarchical levels of Projects, Experiments and Tasks. All the writing can be done directly in SciNote.
Organize documents and attachments
Attachments intended as affixes to the grant submission can be organized and stored utilizing the SciNote inventory system and linked to the appropriate sections of the proposal.
Track proposal development progress and set deadlines and reminders
Since SciNote Tasks have a determined due-dates and assigned responsible Team (Team-members), it is easy to keep track if each component of the grant application has been completed through the SciNote dashboard or Task statuses. You can also set deadlines on each task so the team member responsible will receive a reminder notification.
Generate the proposal draft
All work recorded within SciNote can be pulled into a structured report using SciNote’s report generator; the document can then be shaped into a form demanded by the grant.
Do you know that many funding agencies now require applicants to create data management and sharing plans? See how using SciNote can help you better manage your data.
Use SciNote to keep customer orders and external projects organized, and simplify your reporting, billing, and auditing processes. With SciNote, you can:
Share selected internal records
External collaborators can be invited to view or contribute to selected records. Customize their access and editing permissions with granulated SciNote user roles.
Keep track of orders and progress on deliverables
The clear team structure and project/experiment/task hierarchy help keep clear boundaries and responsibility for deliverables and outputs. Each SciNote Project or Experiment can represent a customer; Tasks can represent customer orders, with their results as deliverables. Keep track of due dates for deliverables with Task statuses and visual progress bars on Task cards.
Create structured reporting on external projects and customer orders
Create a structured report on an order or an external collaborative project with SciNote report generator. Choose the content you wish to include in the report and share it with a partner or customer in formats that are open or closed for editing.
Automate accounting and billing processes
Integrate SciNote with your existing accounting, CRM, or ERP software or systems through SciNote’s RESTful API. For example, you can create a snapshot of billed items for a client on regular intervals or on request.
Some of the other notebook providers didn’t make it as easy for us to do one thing that’s really critical, which is to keep different notebooks for different clients segregated and self-contained. Notebooks that we know could stand alone on their own, and allow us to keep a dedicated space for each of our clients – particularly if we want to give them the opportunity to audit the work. This is really important to us.
