Would you recommend SciNote to other scientists and why?
I would recommend SciNote to other scientists. I find that it is very secure, useful service which enables members of the company to have access to information uploaded by other users.
Can you tell us a bit more about your work and what do you find most interesting about it?
I perform contract/research work for companies, investigating the cellular organisation and structure within spheroids and tissues as well as looking at particular drugs and the effects that they have on cells such as apoptosis, proliferation and the blocking of binding sites on cells.
To perform this research a lot of my work is focused on immunostaining and imaging – it is this area of work which I find the most interesting as I gain a visual insight into the biological endpoints of the spheroids.
How did you decide to start using an electronic lab notebook?
We were interested in using a secure electronic system for organising and sharing files, data and images within the company.
Which were the main reasons that you chose SciNote?
We were impressed with the security and features of the SciNote system. Everyone we spoke to at SciNote was able to clearly answer our questions and understand our concerns, from giving a top-level overview of the ways in which the system can be used, down to very thorough “on-boarding” training we received.
We were also impressed that SciNote, while an evolving and improving platform, is already widely used both in academic and industrial labs.
We found the fee structure to be simple and reasonable.
How does SciNote fit into your workdays and where is it most helpful?
I find that SciNote fits into my workdays well as I can use it as and when required. I find it easy to use so it does not take up too much of my time. I find that it is most helpful in documenting work/experiments carried out on particular contracts/studies.
Which are the benefits of using SciNote i.e. what do you like most about it?
Storing this information in a shared location also allows all members of the team to have access to the information and files.
In some studies the volume of results produced can be of a size in which it can be challenging to manually crosslink results back to the associated methods.
SciNote, however, allows me to do this which helps me to keep track of what methods were used for what methods.
Also, it is useful for making summary reports which can be used as a guide to produce our ‘company format’ reports for clients.
The main benefit of SciNote that I have experience is the documenting of studies and methods and also the associated results to each individual experiment within an individual experiment.
What is your experience with the SciNote team?
Our experience with the SciNote team has been very positive from the start of our journey with SciNote. SciNote provided us with a live demo and example of how to use SciNote at the beginning and have helped us since with any questions or problems we have had.
